Removing wiring harness 1996 GMC 1500

    Whats going on group.

Just started tearing my truck apart last night and wondering what is the easiest way to remove the engine wiring harness?

    Thanks

Simply disconnect plug by plug, ground wire by ground wire. Disconnect the battery first. Can you clue us in, as to why you need to remove the engine wire harness? Is the engine harness defective? Are you simply replacing a blown up engine? Doing an engine swap to something else? Or?

I am doing a 5.3 swap. I am sending off the harness to get reworked to work with the 5.3. I got it out. there was a torx head in the plug on the firewall

Before I send it off and spend 900 maybe I will look into modifying my harness. Any Suggestions?

Look up the schematics on lt1swap.com. Brendan has very good information.

www.Wait4MePerformance.com Much better price on harness modification. Used them many years ago and was very happy with their work.

If modifying your own harness I'd start with the 5.3 harness myself
