    New member here.....

I have a 2003 Z71 Avalanche that I plan on swapping the 5.3 for a 6.0, my buddy back home is going to build it for me while I am here, I plan on putting it in when I get back stateside. I understand that it is a pretty much straight forward transplant, but there is always something that comes up. I am in the US Army stationed in AFG. I hope to get a lot of information here as well as give some when I can. I have been wrenching for the better part of 20+ years. I have built many street strip cars for myself as well as others. The last car I built for myself was '96 Impala SS, that had what was left of the LT1 it came with (block, heads, intake, throttle body) 4L80e trans (GHM stand alone computer), D1SC ATI Supercharger. If you are from the S.E. Michigan area, you may have seen it. I owned PREDATOR-RACING, have worked on just about anything over the years from Blue Devil Corvette, 944 Turbos, Rousch Racing, ASC and so on.
I hope to learn from others who have done this swap, so I don't make the same mistakes they did. I won't have much time to do the install, I will be doing it on block leave, trying to spend time with friends and family during the holiday season, then back to work. So, if I ask detailed information, understand, it's not that I doubt you, I need the best information I can get in a short amount of time.
Remember, I am 8.5 hours ahead of the east coast, leave me time to reply.
    Thanks for your time.

I just emailed back home to get specific information, so as to get better information from members like you! As said in another post by me, I went back 20 pages doing a search, seems like you are a lot like me. ;-) I plan on making this a daily driver, one day I will do my usual "thing" and make it look and act like something I built. How is Texas, it's been 110* in the shade here.

'Yall need to call this the "Texas LS1 Truck" site! :-) I do wish I lived in the Southwest, great sunrises and sunsets. I spent the better part of a year in Ft. Huachuca Az, lived in So. Cal for a while as well, used to go to the desert with my buddies out there. The desert here however is just not quite the same. What all have you done to your Av? I have done a few things to mine not anything major, that will all start with the engine.
    To quote a friend,
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you move it!

    Check your six!

If the engine is a gen3 it'll be a direct bolt in swap.
Nothing needed but gaskets and fluids.
There are two types of 6.0L truck engines for gen3. LQ4 and LQ9.
Compression and HP/TQ rating being the only difference.
