Lightbulb '95 Tahoe 5.7 TBI 4X4 engine swap...

I just aquired a '95 Tahoe 4X4 automatic, with a 5.7 TBI that is dead. I also was given a 5.7 Vortec that is a 4 bolt main motor. That is all I know of the motor since I have not picked it up yet. It needs a crank kit is all to be a good motor, oil pump got weak and scored the bearings, this I know but I don't know what it came from. My question is; would I be better off using the Vortec once I get it freshed up and what would be involved in the swap keeping it a Vortec and doing away with the TBI. I could find a good 5.3 but am not certain of what is involved in that swap as well. I am going to be using this as a daily driver.
I am looking a the money aspect of doing the swap. I have loads of talent but not much with GM products. I have been a Ford person for more than 40 years, (grew up in custoom body shop for Ford speed).

for the money, time, effort, power, go with the 5.3 swap or 6.0l.

second that on the ls swap, I have a 93 2 door fullsize blazer that I did an ls swap, simple to do, can be done fairly cheaply as well. It will feel about twice the power that old tbi ever had, although for my swap i opted to rebuild the motor and trans since its my daily driver, so my swap wasnt on the cheap side.

Looks like the 5.3 will be the way to go then. I just aquired a 5.3 that needs a crank kits just like the 5.7 vortec I got. Guess my next step will be to find the posts for doing the 5.3 swap and follow it. I have been told that I should get the computer out of an '02 along with the wiring harness to make the install easier. I think that Power & Speed has a kit that works for this install as well.
Thanks for the advice and shove in the direction I should go, since I was like someone afraid to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Just could not take that first step on my own.
