    oil cooler

hey guys, i just put a 6.0 liter in a 93 dually and was wondering if i should run the oil cooler or not.... I cant get it to work as the piping uder the motor hits aswell as the pipping that attaches the the rad is too long. Is it possible to cut it and install a flex line in between the block and end fittings? Or do i even need one. im in canada and donnt drive it everyday aswell as i dont tow all the time

Im running a 5.3 down in Texas and am not running it. Engine is a little hotter but nothing bad. The truck the 5.3 came out of didnt use the oil cooler so I figured it would be fine. If I did the swap aagain however, I would put in a cooler. Texas is hot

Ditch it if it is too much hassle, one less thing to leak, they always seem to.You MUST get the correct blockoff plate from GM (its cheap) or a used one,you can't just stick a flat plate on there.

You don't need it. At all. My truck wishes it was abused so it got treated better, and it has never once gotten hot. It's just not possible up here.

I removed the oil cooler on all 3 of my swaps, and haven't had a problem yet. I just bought a blockoff kit from the dealer, which consists of blockoff plate, a gasket, and two bolts. The whole thing cost me about $15.00, mine was for a 5.7 so maybe yours will be different price.

Do the newer lines have a metric fitting? You could also just get some braided line with an fittings.

I'd run one myself. Oil should last longer cool. I'd be more worried about oil break-down than the motor heating up. Even with the factory cooler it'll run 250+* when it's 80* outside.
