I recently purchased a ring and pinion, posi, and master install kit as a package from Ron's. I had no clue how to do the install so I sought out a professional in my area and paid him to do the job. I read the warnings and such about break in time and followed them, as well as the directions my installer gave me. For about the first 100 miles the gears made no noise at all, then around 100 miles or so was the first time I gave it hell and ever since then they have been whining and making all kinds of noise. I called my installer and asked him what the deal was immediately, because I figured it had to do with his install with these being brand new parts and he informed me that the gears I purchased from Ron's are "two cut" gears and that they commonly make a slight whining noise upon deceleration, but mine do it all the time, and at times they SCREAM while other times it's barely noticeable. He told me to continue driving it and after a few hundred miles the noise should lessen or decease. Well I've put around 1200 miles on them so far and the noise has not gotten any better, so I took it to my installer and had him go for a ride with me to listen to them. He said that my gears are trashed and that I need to get a new set, preferably a set of "five cut" gears because they are of higher quality and won't whine?! Now, IF he did install them exactly as he should have (which I am kind of doubting), have you guys ever had any issues with these gears whining? Is it possible to get a bad set? I've got a handful of buddies running them with no issues and one buddy has seen 50 or 60 sets of your gears and none of them have ever whined... Am I getting the run around here? He insisted that his install was right and it's because I bought a "cheap" set of gears... Please help... I spent $500 on Ron's parts and $300 to have him install them and I am still left with a broken truck...
