Well after a year and a half I'm finally driving my pickup. I have almost 500 miles on it now and it is running really good. Have a few things to change, other than that,it is really strong.
I guess I never really started a build on this sight so a brief (kinda) run down. Had a 4.3 V6 and put a set of 4.10's n back shorty headers reground cam a little. bigger throtle body A local tune,2800 stall2.02 and 1.60 stainless valves and a 100 shot of nitrous. Ran 14.52 @ 93 MPH. Wasn't fast enough.
Found a 6.0 Ls out of a 2004 3500 dually. Put a comp cam (224-230 581-588) in and carb it. Long story short caused a lot of difficulties. Trans , guages , fuel system and some wiring wouldn't work. New autometer guages TCI super street fighter turbo 350 and a TCI 2800 stall. Spun a cam bearing and a rod bearing. Pulled motor and sent to a local high performance builder and put forged scat H beam rods and 9 to 1 Diamond pistons turned stock crank. Got a new cam (same) all new bearings and rings, had all the block work done. The quickfuel carb ran real fat and couldn't get it leaned out so after about 30 miles shut it down and ordered a new Pro Systems carb, which worked great. About 10 miles later it spun 2 rod bearings and scuffed a few piston skirts and cylinder walls. Engine builder said it was the carb that caused the problem, not anything they did.4300 down the drain.
So I sent it to LME in Houston, Tx. and it ended up .040 over with new forged Diamond 11 to 1 pistons and Calles I beam forged rods and a forged Calles crank. All new everything again. So now it's a 410 stroker with 11 to 1 comp.
It is running great. Need to change the holley regulator to a different location as it is on the firewall and is making a lot of noise in the cab, plus it doesn't keep the fuel pressure steady. Going to get a aeromotive. Can't wait to get it all lined out and the Nitrous set up. I've got a progressive controller that I can set for a certain percentage off the line and kick the rest in like a second later. Plan on up to a 250 shot. Hoping for 10.50 with the juice. I might be dreaming, I guess I'm old enough. (to dream,BIG )
Will keep everyone informed. Steve Sr.
