    Torque Conveter locckup

i got an 05 gmc sierra z71 with 85K miles and was wondering if i am having problems with my Tq Converter. when its cold it takes about 3 miles of driving 45 and onther 2 of 65mph then finally lock in but when its warm out is seems to work fine. i normally let it warm up for about 1-2 min before i take off warm or cold outside. any suggestions would help. 30-50 degree area.

They are programmed to do that. By keeping the converter unlocked the engine revs higher and it warms up faster.

Yep, thats normal. Just because you let your engine warm up a few minutes doesnt mean your trans fluid is warmed up. PCM has to see a cartain trans fluid temp before it allows tcc lock up.

Normal. Since I have an extra cooler on mine, it takes longer.

ya...I drove mine to work other day (10* outside), going 75-80, took almost 30 minutes. Trans temp never went over 105*
