    Tranny Help 1992 K1500

Ive got a 1992 k1500 chevy that is ready for a late model vortec swap.

I keep going through 700r4 's so im thinking the 4l60e is not going to hold up long.

    Ive got a 2007 6.0L with a 4l60e behind it and a (i think) 246 transfer case.

From what ive read, its easier to just run the manual 241 TC that ive already got(from 92 truck)

What is involved in converting this set up to a 4l80e? spacers? different input shafts? linkages? can the 4l60e adapter for TC fit on 4l80e?

What year 4l80e's are capable of this set up?

sorry for a long first post

Others are more knowledgable than me but a short answer would be that you need a flexplate and crank spacer from a 6.0/4l80 setup and the wiring harness is different so you can either buy an adapter harness from Nelson or change the wiring pinouts yourself. As far as that torque converter is concerned - I have no idea but I know you have to have a 80e converter and no others will work with an 80e trans. Someone else will chime in to better answer this I'm sure...
