    pics of my custom box

me and my dad built this box about a year ago and i was running 2 kicker cvr 12's powered by a kicker zx 1000.1 amp.
i sold that setup to my brother a while ago and just picked up an autotek "mean machine" 2000 watt amp and 2 12in hifonics brutus subs.
i needed to make 2 rings to space it out a little because these subs are deeper than the kickers were. and i gave it one coat with truck bedliner coating then filled any little nail holes. it fits behind the seat in my reg cab truck in my sig. and the set can still go 1 notch from the whole way back. ill get more pics when its in the truck.
the amp and 1 of the subs

First, idk why you did the bedliner before you covered nail holes. That looks terrible. Second, IDK what that board on top is for, but it looks terrible. You used nails instead of screws, idk if that's an amp rack or what in the center. If it is an amp rack, its too big, because your amp is half that size. The top doesn't line up with the front in the middle.

honestly, the wood work looks good, it just looks like you need to wrap it in fleece and fibergglass that thing!

that was just the first coat so i could see any imperfections i didnt like that needed filled. obviously its going to get a couple more coats. i had the box ported for awhile but it didnt sound as good as sealed so i capped it off with that top board. we tacked it with a finish nailgun to hold it before we screwed it. the top is even with where the farthest point forward is on the face where the subs mount, but the middle couldnt be that far out because the center console just barely clears to flip up into a seat now and if it was the whole way out it wouldnt flip up

I've made better, I've seen worse. The wood work is alright. I've always used some titebondII and 1 1/2" long 1/4" wide staples every threeish inches(only keep it together for the glue to dry). Using nails is for the birds, and screws are a waste of time(pre-drill, drive screw), but still the better option if air and a staple gun aren't available. However, screws are the best way for higher powered subs. Rhino lining is awful in my opinion but to each his own. +1 on the fiberglass and I apologise that we audio czars are critical and this wasn't what you wanted to hear. You're on the right track and if you ever need professional advice my doors are always open.

we did use titebond wood glue and sealed the inside with pl400 adhesive.
i know this box is solid and sealed i wouldnt trust it with just staples and glue. we have every tool you could think of in our wood shop. my dad owns a building business and does million dollar homes and build all of the custom kitchen cabinetry here in our shop. you barely see any of it when its back behind the seats and i wanted it coated with something that would hold up good

I've never had trouble with my methods. I've built 1200watt sub systems and used nothing more than glue and staples and wrapped in carpet or vinyl, never seen one come back within my 5 years. Just saying it's a bit overkill and my opinion about bedliner boxes inside the cab. Wasn't trying to be an ass, just honest.

Maybe it's just me... I'm used to building boxes for 3000+ watt DD systems.
