More Stall out of the stock converter

i talked to a guy at the local trans shop and he said if i bring him my stock torque converter he could go in it and bump the stall up, he just said that he has seen different converters i think he said some of them are braised (something like that), i was just wondering if this is a good idea?

Nope, don't do it. Get a correctly built performance converter. You're just asking for trouble going that route.

It is when you pay $200 for a converter that could destroy a $1700 transmission.

Yep...and they usually just open it up and hammer the fins flatter on the stator. That increases the "stall" but does nothing for torque multiplication. Mostly just overheats the fluid. Then you have to trust them to weld it back together and balance it.
