    Cam question

Ok, i have been doing some research about cams but still need some help, i have read a ton of threads on here and pt.net. trying to find a decent cam to put in the truck. Now i'm not trying to just stuff the biggest cam in the truck i can as i have seen a lot of people ask about or huge gains anywhere. I am looking for something a little better then the stock cam though with a little bit of a lope to it. So i have been on a couple different sites looking and here are some i am thinking about, but i need a little help also, here are some that i think will work for me so far, thanks in advance:

I suggest you don't buy an "off the shelf" grind. Call up Comp Cams and get a custom grind made to fit what you want. =)

So are you trying to avoid putting a converter in it? Tell us more specifics as to what your looking for.

i would like not to get a new converter cuz the one i have is new, i toasted the old trans last march. But it's 1800 stall speed on the one i have now.

My truck is definitely not something that will see the track, i just want a little more power without FI.

put it on a dyno and see what RPM it start building TQ and get a converter that will get you to that sweet spot.
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709

ok.....Since you dont have much converter, you need to be careful. You could prolly go with the crane you have listed above and still retain your converter. It will want to push your truck some at a stop light because you will be idling faster and such. You can also run the affordable 918 springs with that cam. An off the shelp cam will be fine for what you are wanting to do. You are not going to hear much cam with that one but it is going to make a ton of torque, should make your truck feel really good! Thats what your truck needs, ricers need HP. lol good luck with your swap!

Something just doesnt measure up on that link! Based on the duration and the LSA, that cam should be an earth thrasher but it says it makes power from 1500rpm. Based on the duration, I would not go with that cam. Honestly if I were in your situation, I would look at an LS6 cam. This cam will make good torque for your truck, should really see an improvment. Cheaper on cost too!

Yeah, the Edelbrock 2216 is too much for your truck with a stock stall. I am going to say the LS6 cam as well. Or go have a cam custom ground to match up LS6 specs, but have a higher LSA--only because I like a nice lope at idle...
