    GMPP LS3 Hot Cam into a 2000

Well this project was a bit of a workout but overall went fairly well. I work for a GM Dealer in Western Canada and we decided to come up with a show/street truck for a local event held in out city called Street Wheelers. Street Wheelers

I started out by taking a 2000 Reg Cab Short Box 2wd pickup that came in on trade from a sale in April. We started almost immediately on the tear down of this truck and I started ordering the goods. I decided I wanted to go the route of a corvette drivetrain in a truck. So I ordered a GM Performance Parts LS3 with GM's Hotcam. Rated at 480HP. Backed that up with a Finish Line Stage 4 4L60E Transmission from Chuck at FLT. 3600 Yank Converter from Dave @ Yank Converters. Rearend just has a Zexel Torsen T2-R Carrier, 4:56 Gears and a TA Diff Girdle.

Other few goods and specs are a 3" Dynomax Ultra Flow Muffler fed by Hookers Super Comp Ceramic Coated Headers. There is also a QTP Electric cutout in the system too. Interior was takin out of a 2005 Sierra Crew Cab from a local wrecking yard. The fun part was the wiring for windows and seats. This truck was a plain Jane when we started out, now she has all the good stuff. Two toned the leather seats and some of the dash pieces.

Wheels and Tires are a 22x 9.5 Foose Impression wrapped in BFG KDW's. 14" SSBC Brake kit on all 4 corners and a line lock to save the rear pads. Truck was lowered 2" in the Front and 4" in the rear.

Paint and body was all done from another buddy here at the Dealership. He is a licenced body guy but this was only the second vehicle he has ever painted. I think he pulled it off perfectly. Shaved T.Gate, Goodmark Cowl Hood, Street Scene sport mirror, shaved B pillars and 3rd brake light. Paint was done with Corvette's Jetstream metallic blue topped with Caddilac Diamond White and split with corvette's Atomic Orange Metallic. I ended up fitting the front clip off on a Denali Pickup onto this truck as well with billet inserts.

Supplied Wiring harness from John @ Speartech. Me and a buddy at the dealership did the whole install of the drivetain except I sent the truck up to Lyndon Westers of Westers Garage in Tilley AB. Westers Garage - Custom Performance Tuning What an amazing install they did and driveability is unreal. No dyno numbers as of yet but I'll try to keep you guys posted. Any questions or comments I would love to hear and try to answer for ya.

I'll try for an impressive 2nd post. I'm an avid reader but never had an excuse to join. Now I just wanted so show and help the next guy.

I also did another truck at the same time with a couple buddies of mine. 2002 Reg cab short box 2wd. We pulled the 5.3L/4L60E out and replaced it with a build 427. Block was a SDPC L92 El Toro 427. Then we finished it off with Yella terra Rockers strapped to Trickflow's 235 Heads. Custom grind Comp Cam, Fast 42# Injectors, Fast's 92mm Intake ported to 95mm and a 95mm DBW Rev Xtreme T.B. Kept the truck accessories on this one. Man it's almost worth the money to use corvette accessories. Corvette accessories the A/C Compressor fought us. (Hit the Frame) With the truck accessories the stupid T.B. was hitting the belt cause we had to flip the T.B. upside down on the 427 to clear the alternator and space it from the manifold to clear the waterpump outlet.

Hooker Super Comp Ceramic Coated Headers into a 3.5" exhaust Mufflered with a Dynomax Ultraflow. Tranny was a Finishline Trans again. Stage 5. Yank 3600 Stall converter and same rear end. We haven't dyno'ed this truck yet either but it is an animal. 3rd gear is still as messy as first. Spinfest. May not look like it from the vid but we are hoping for 550RWHP. Very Healthy.

I have one more picture of the engine bay but it didn't want to transfer. I'll try to get it a bit later.

That is my own project truck, she got a little neglected this year with these two trucks on the go. It is just a supercharged 4.3L she goes good for what it is. 210,000kms factory motor and trans. My best time is 14.9 @ 92mph. She will recieve a LS6 hopefully soon. When I started I wanted to be different with the V6, now I wanna go fast. Keep an eye out for that one in the next year or two. Thanks.
