    2nd gear power

Ok my first gear is great like throw you in the seat great. But second is a different story I put it in second at about 40mph floor it and it takes off average like 1 to 10 its a 5 maybe 4 1/2. So what can I do to get second to jump like first? I was thinking 4:10s and a locker. Or a cam for that rpm range but didnt want to cam the 90000mile 4.8 u know. O yah and 3rd is even better than 2nd at 70mph I can floor it and it will down shift and jump like first. So I dont know if its a tune issue or what. So some knowledge would help. Thx Guys

I threw in a 2600 stall, transgo kit, vette servo, and tune w/ no TM for that exact reason. Just on a regular upshift into second my 4.8 used to nose over a little. Already had 3.73s.

all stock trucks suck at 40 mph... reason is your out of your power band, and it takes a little to get the rpms to rev. Same thing at 80mph, I tried an 80 roll run against a vette and my window switch woulndt even spray my nitrous because I wasnt at 3500rpms. so I looked stupid. by the time it sprayed the vette had allready slowed back down. IMO dont do 40mph races. 30mph and 50mph are best.

Jeff what in the world are you doing messing with a vette on an 80 roll? Unless of course it was a barbie C4 model, then have fun!

When you nail it at 40 is it downshifting? When you nail it at 70 it is going back down to 2nd so it should high rev and haul ass! If it is not downshifting it will be a real dog.. You need to have the speed built up before shifting into second or you are fighting a loosing battle. Converter and gears will help, but I suspect you will not be happy with the money you spend and the results you get. Have Allen Adjust your tune to downshift at that MPH at WOT and you will save money.

Of course if you have the money for Cam and gears/locker, just buy a used 6.0 and put a locker in later.

ive never seen a truck go into first from a 40 roll...30 roll is perfect...if you wanna go fast and downshift into second punch it at 60.

Kinda true. You are just in a dead spot between your gears.
