    6.0 in, wont stay running.

Hey guys, I got my 6.0l in my truck finally. I have a couple problems tho. I can't get the engine to turn over with the key. I have to jump the starter. This I am guessing is because the computer is set at an automatic transmission, whereas I have a manual transmission, so I think the problem is occurring because the computer senses that it's not in park. Also, when I jump the starter, it starts for 3-5 seconds then dies. Not sure what to do about it. Let me know if you could think of a solution. thanks. tim.

You need a retune for the new engine/transmission combination. VATS is keeping the engine from running for more than 5 seconds. What engine did you have in it before? What year truck?

It's a 2000 silverado. It had the 4.3 with the 5 speed, and I'm still using the 5 speed. The computer is from the 6.0l truck. Who does everybody recommend does the retune and can vats be disabled when the retune is done?

The VATS is done during the tune. Allen at NelsonPerformance.com is used to doing conversions such as your's. That is who I would use. If it were a stock vehicle with stock drivetrain combination I would say go to just about anyone but since it's not, I'd definitely suggest NP.

All tuners are hard to get in contact with. Nature of the business. It just sucks to have to wait when you're anxious to get something accomplished.
