    I've been reading, and studying, and shopping, and still can't figure out what I want to do, so I was hoping you guys could help me make up my mind.

    I was planning on buying a lq9, but I think I have changed my mind, and am going to build a 402. I just don't know if I want to make it a higher cr, n/a, or a lower cr, f/i(later this year/early next). I want it to be a reliable dd yadayada, just like everyone else, but at the same time I don't want it to have a rough idle, and not have any manners.
    From what I've seen shopping around I could build a motor for $4000-$5000, I guess what I want to know is, would I be better off to build it with say 9:1 now, and have the option later of a sc, or a higher cr and stay all motor. Also what kind of power would I be looking at with a 9:1cr with a mild cam.

    If you're going to build a stroker, go with an aluminum block because the cylinders go deeper into the engine and will support the pistons better at the bottom of the stroke.

    That would be an ls2 correct. Doesn't that take alot of work to convert my truck to an ls2.

    You can go to an L92 block if you choose. All you need are front cover, LS2/L92 timing chain set, knock sensor extension, cam sensor extension, cam sensor and tap the side of the block to accept the LS1 type knock sensors.

    What all does it take to use the aluminum ls2 block? I've looked at them, but never thought of them as an option ,because I thought it took to much to convert for some reason.

    You need an LS2 valley cover, also, to block off the displacement on demand parts of the L92 block or you have to put pipe plugs in the ports in the valley pan area. I've not done an L92 or LS2 conversion but have been reading up on doing one because that was the way I was going to go before I bought the 408. With the L92 you get an even larger engine than the 402. Scoggins/Dickey has started selling a crate L92 block with a 4" stroker.

    Is this guy here what you are talking about. I've looked at it, but just in passing. I didn't know it would work + it's a little pricey. Would my fuel injection work on an ls2 engine, I don't want to get into buying all new everything. I was kind of hoping for less than $6000 for now. I still have the wife to deal with in that, but I'm pretty persuasive with her, because she likes shiny thing.

    Oh yeah, that's it! You can get the LS1 or the LS2 reluctor, you just tell them when you order it.

    ummmm L92 short block then slap on the L92 heads and L76 intake and let it eat... yummy...

    With the short block, heads, and intake, it's above my spending cap already. I have a cap because I want to put an 80e in while I'm doing the swap, so that I eliminate the weakest link in my drivetrain.


    Red why did you go with a 408 if you wanted the l92?
