I had heard that regearing a truck for bigger tires will "mess up" an auto transmission. Any truth to that?

[/b]i dont think a low mileage 60e or any 80e will fail just because of gears. also if its built, i highly doubt its gonna fail due to gears. just my opinion based on hours of reading.

You will need to progam the PCM to let your speedometer show the correct speed and then you need to make sure your suspension can handle the weight. When you say bigger ties I assume you mean "Mudders" or somthing of the sort. It would be best to gear your truck to keep your engine/trans/gears in the best power band.
Good Luck![]()
Yeah, probably around 35's with a custom built suspension. I'm pretty new to all of this stuff, so I'm guessing that PCM is the power comand module. Reprogaming makes sense, or else the truck would be shifting at the wrong time due to the different gear ratios.
