That is a very big can for a 5.3 are you going to be spraying and do you plan to drive it other than racing? Behind a 3600 it will be pretty good, but behind a 3k it will be a dog down low. I would suggest something a little smaller. 224/228 is a great 5.3 cam.

It already has a 224/230 in it now. Looking for a little more power above 3500. Plan on porting the heads and adding a nnbs intake n 90mm tb

I don't know how much more you will really get by changing cams. Porting the heads and allowing it to breath better will help IMO, but changing the cam seems like a waste of time to me. For a small motor I think it will move the power band move up, but it won't net valuable gains unless you are planning to run 65-140mph roll races. You will want 4.56 gears for that monster cam.

Well 65-140 is where its at!!! That my plan. I have seen lots bigger cams in 5.3s. This will strictly a highway roll truck.

I think your money would be better spent on spray if you are going to be roll racing. The cam you have now is such a good cam for a 5.3. A max effort cam verse the one you have will net you 10-15hp. You will be much better off bolting on 150hp that you can add at the touch of a button. Roll racing is mostly about horsepower.

A 224/230 is not noticeable at idle??? What is the lobe separation angle? Through a stock exhaust?
