Thread: Trans lines

    Trans lines

I have a question on how to tie in my trans lines to my radiator. I put an 05 5.3 and 4l60e in my 96 sierra. I am using my 96's radiator and the trans lines from the 05. The 05 uses different fittings. Are there any dorman p/n's that will work?

Why don't you just get the same yr radiator as your engine and tranny be a lot easier.shouldnt be that expensive

Or get a after market tranny cooler there like 50-80 buck on summit

I was trying to not spend the money. But I think an aftermarket cooler is the way to solve it.

Can I just leave the radiator holes open?

I wasn't sure if it would fit.

either way your gonna spend money. a 05 radiator is much easier since you have the lines

Yeah you can just leave them open but you get the right bolt to close them at the part store. But true cooler be your best bet with 05 rad.

You want to circulate your fluid thru the rad as well as your aux.cooler,it helps get the trans up to operating temp quicker.Finding a handful of fittings to make it work shouldn't be a big deal.

well, I went to the parts house with my radiator under arm. They had the fittings I needed for the radiator. I cut the hard lines and put compression / barbed fittings and it worked like a charm... so far. thanks for the suggestions.
