I saw a sticky awhile back for this swap, but either its gone or im blind.

the dbw is much easier to install, you dont have to route a new throttle cable and worry about attaching cruise control. just find a suitable place on the firewall to mount to tac module and then mount the gas pedal. you will need to flash the pcm to at the very least remove the vats anti-theft. You should also disable the egr (if applicable), the evap system, and rear o2 sensors to get rid of an annoying check engine light.

As far as what you need, that depends on what you have. Did you get a complete engine with the wiring harness, pcm, and accessories? If so you dont need much, just some motor mount adapter plates which you can readily find on ebay for $20. Also the plastic vacuum nipple for the back of the intake in order to connect to your vacuum brake booster. You can make your own fuse/relay system but if you're willing to shell out another $40 you can find an underhood fusebox on ebay to plug the engine harness into. There are only 2 or 3 pins that need to be wired to where the other connectors would go. It took 10 minutes to install and looks a lot cleaner than a jumble of fuse holders and relays.

You will need a new fuel pump as well. Go to the parts store and get a fuel pump for a 96 v8 camaro, it is identical to your oem one but is higher pressure and volume to accomodate the engine.

If you are not going to run headers initially then you will need a couple exhaust flanges to mate to your exhaust manifolds. They are a different shape on each side, and i had my exhaust suuplier check their supplier and they didnt have them, so good luck. Fortunately i was able to pay them $50 to cut the flanges off a new y-pipe/converter assy and send the rest back as a "defect." Anywho, once you aquire the flanges have a local exhaust shop bend you a new y-pipe and you're set.

i found it was easy to use my existing starter relay wire on the new engine, just hook it up and it starts like normal. i nipped the end off the one in the new harness and capped it.

are you going to use the stock trans? thats a whole other mess that i dont even want to get into right now because i want to play call of duty, but this will get you started.

Yes, at a minimum you will need VATS tuned out of the PCM.
You can use a 2003 PCM flashed to the 2006 specs and use drive by cable or use a 99-02 PCM and modify your harness.

    TimeLimitHit,

I have the complete engine, right out of the 06. The only thing I dont have is the gas pedal. Seems like it should be a worth while project, just seems like its going to be a PITA. but if i can SFA my truck im sure i can handle this

What i would love to know is will the 6.0 bolt up with the 700R4... what all do i need and dont need to get this motor running and running strong. I know ill need a new fuel pump, anyone have a Part number for me? Ill need feul lines to right? what should i get them out of? or just run braided lines all the way from the tank to the motor? how many O2 sensors should i keep/ set up in the truck to make sure it runs well? Are the stock exhaust manifold good enough for this engine/ Swap?

Any and all help is greatly needed.

The motor will bolt onto the 700r4, and I think you need a spacer for the torque converter to flexplate, now as to how long it will last is another question. You may also run into problems with your tv/kickdown cable. If you take it easy it could last, but with that new power you may not want to take it easy. All I did on mine was make a CAI, headers, and a free flowing exhaust. And it runs strong for me, atleast for now. I just used a fuel pump from a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban, but others have used a Wahlbro. I just ran two fuel injection hose lines from the fuel filter to the fuel rail. As far as the o2 sensors, I just used the 2 pre-cat sensors.

    Fuel pump is Walbro #GSS340.

Need two o2 sensors, pre cat. The two post cat o2s can be tuned out. Shoenfield makes headers for your swap if you so desire.

looks like its going to be awhile untill i start the swap now since im moving. Also do to the lack of funds i may even sell the motor. Im not entirely sure what im going to do since i know this wont be a easy or cheap(ish) swap.

If you use your current 700r4, make sure it has at minimal a few upgrades if you plan to run it hard, beast sunshell, dual cage sprag, and for the pump, get the boost valve, and HD pump slide spring. Never remove the acc. springs, but you could go slightly stiffer on them.
