ANOTHER problem with my 4l60E!!! no Overdrive!!

well, as most of you know ive had this transmission rebuilt 2 times, fixed 3 times within 3 months, now just got it rebuilt 2 weeks ago and all was well and just today it goes 1st,2nd, then when soppose to go into 3rd it just does nothing ,acts like its nuetral, i can put it in 3rd and it will be fine, but once i put it in D it does this. is this a 3rd problem or a overdrive issue.??

im at the point to toss this tranny through the shops window ......gteran knows what im talking about.

In all honesty you have too much truck for a 60e. I wonder if your 2-3 shift noid went out?
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709

Mine went out on the ext cab i lost 2nd and OD changed the 2-3 noid and its fixed, so you might need to change that or the other one.....they're 25 bucks at the parts store, they both have the same part number, and are located at the back of the valve body.

in all honestly i will be doing a 80E conversion within the next yr, i have 1 yr of warranty on this so im gonna use it all up while i can and peice together a good 80e slowly.

I went through all this crap with my 65e too. I changed out the PCM (Pressure Control Manifold) and the pressure solinoid. The PCM is the flat silver one on the valve body, and the pressure solinoid is the round one that you take off the accumulator to get to. I reused the old ones the last two time I rebuilt the trans, I've got plenty of power and now it bangs 2nd and 3rd like a bad bitch! Shift solinoids either work or they don't. Pressure solinoids seem to be different, but it sounds like it's just not pressurein up.

yea i drove it today and it seems to be doing just fine again, do you think i should take a look at the pcm and pressure solinoids? how would i tell if they are bad? or should i just change them while im in there

Just change em. It's a pain but the thing is they get clogged with junk. Theres no real way to tell if they're bad. A really reputable trans guy here says he never reuses them. I bet FLT would tell ya the same thing. You'll be into parts about 70 bucks. I bet the guys that built your trans reuses them, just like the retards that built my trans the first time. That was a mistake.
