I was wondering if anybody has tried using a 5.3 motor and accessories with 5.7 intake and TBI. I'm leary of converting over the wiring to 5.3 because I'll probably screw up the gauges and I really don't want to chase down wiring issues.

Assuming you are talking a 5.7 TBI Vortech motor, it's a completely different generation block then the 5.3, all of the accessories are different...and to be honest, the motor is worthless. Either use the block and put a Carb on it, or upgrade to the new generation 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0. Nelson sells harnesses for putting newer engines in older vehicles.
If you are talking a 5.7 ls1 motor, I'm not sure they make an intake that works with the older TBI setups, but I know the water pumps from the ls1 need spacers to work on the 5.3 truck engines (redheartbeat sells them I believe)
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
Im not really sure I understand what you are wanting to do but whatever it is dont do it. Just use the gen III stuff and take tbi out of your vocabulary. For starters, the old tbi intake wont match up with the 5.3 heads.
