    4L60E into my '64

I'm currently in Afghanistan and will hopefully be home within a month. I already have my 5.3/4L60E waiting to put into my '64. From what I've read, the actual engine swap isn't that bad. What concerns me is how to make the new tranny work as in, how/what do I need to do. It currently has a 3 on the tree and I want to still have the gear selector on the column. I would assume I need to get a different steering column? Any help would be appreciated as I will have little time once I get home. Heading back over here in August and would like to get the truck on the road prior to leaving again.

I put one in my 65 and as far as the engine/trans going in it is very straight forward, however you need the right perches ( stock will work but exhaust is a big issue) now, I purchased the tubular perches with single bolt motor mounts from CPP along with their tubular trans mount ( all this for about $200.) I also bought their LS engine plate too but you can get those just about anywhere.
You will need to get a locar cable or rod type shift mechanism, I used the rod type. A different column isnt necessary but I would advise you do that, I already had a 71 non tilt in my truck. dont forget the fuel pump, harness and ecm flash. I hope I was of some help, there is an article on 67-72chevytrucks.com by thealien that is a real help for our trucks, let me know if I can help you in any way.

Oh and I really appreciate you serving our country! I served and I tell everyone I see in uniform that I appreciate them.
