Your stock harness in the 73 will not work. Are you talking baou the stock 5.3 harness? You can do it with that but its allot of hacking. I would recamend sending it in to somehwere like speartech. I sent mine in and had them build me a harness for my 72 out of a stock 01 harness. Saved me about 300 bucks.
You will need the ECU tuned and hacked to remove o2 stuff and the VAT and some other stuff. Call nelson performance and tell them what your doing and they will hook you up.
ECE makes some really good mounts. Welcome To Early Classic Enterprises they also have headers and other misc stuff you might want.
Bets thing i can tell you is have some patience as your going to run into little quirks here and there.
I have seen some guys use the stock tank and pump for the fuel system but i wouldnt recamend it. I would find a good aftermarket baffled tank and newer pump/sending unit if you can afford it.
Are you going with the throttle by wire or by cable?
Is your 5.3 out of a truck? The accesory drive placement can be a fitting issue if its not out of a truck.
check out this site 67-72chevytrucks.com i found a TON of swap info there and allot of the guys helped me out with my questions.
Good luck!

I got a stand alone harness off of ebay from seller named Techrods and also found a guy on there that does the reprogramming for the computer. The harness hooks up really easy. The motor will run by itself just by hooking up 4 wires, switched 12V, ground, starter wire and fuel pump. I used motor mounts from Advance Adapters and you'll need to get there fly wheel kit also b/c of the crankshaft backspacing between the old small block and the newer GEN IV motors. I used a summit inline fuel mounted it right on the rail by the tank and it works perfect. It depends on which intake you use you may need to find an inline regulator also. The LS truck motors from 99-2002 had the regulator built into the fuel rail, so you won't need the inline one.

No offense but if i were you i wouldnt buy anything that may need rework or replacement from ebay. Especially a ECU that may need to be tuned more then once to get it the way you want it.
Basically you get what you pay for when it comes to this stuff. That stuff in those links is a bit cheaper but i would rather have the peace of mind and reliability then a few more bucks when it comes to my truck.
Do yourself a favor and go with a reputable performance shop like NelsonPerformace or one like them. Most of these guys will go way out of their way to make you happy.
Good luck with your build!

I just got off the phone with ECE. He said the motor mounts for they have for 63-72 will work. The fram and cross member are the same so they will do fine.

what oil pan has a better clearance?
best ground clearance is the fbody/camaro. Vette could be better but the bat wing design makes it tough to put in anything else.
