I recently purchased a new farm truck. It is an 86 military 1.25 ton pickup with 10,000 miles. For those that don't know it is a 6.2 diesel, turbo 400, 208, 4.56 gear. My old truck was a 427bbc, sm465, 205, 4.10 gear. I drive the truck daily but only a few miles. During the summer when I don't have a sanctioned pull to take my 4x4 superstock truck to I drive my driver to the local brush pulls and pull it. My plan was to take my 427 out of my old pickup and put it in the military truck(My old truck is a rusty peice of crap). In the corner of the garage sets an 02 6.0 out of a denali with so I was told 32xxx miles. My old 427 is a 9.5+.1 compression, closed chamber large ovals, 69 ss high rise cast manifold with an 800cfm q-jet, factory stainless exhaust manifolds, 2.5 exhaust, 262comp extreme 4x4 cam, and roller rockers. I think a flexplate is all I have to change to switch them which I'm sure I probably have which = cheap! In the corner of the garage sets an 02 6.0 out of a denali. If I use it I would like to mill the heads and throw a camshaft at it and obviously a tune. Most of our "stock" truckpull classes require 15" of vacuum at 850 rpm and stock manifolds intake and exhaust. I won 5 of the 6 pulls I entered with my 427 and might have won the sixth one if it weren't for a faulty fuel pump. I probably tow a heavy load twice a month and its not that far anyway. How would the 6.0 stack up against my current bbc(daily driver, occasional puller)?
