Why don't you buy a Bravada and convert it or swap the drivetrain into a s-10 truck. Might be too wimpie for a full sise.

If not, you will need some EXT AWD drivetrain and possible suspension. If you decide to take this project on, good luck man.

i was thinking of buying a z71 and swapping out the transfercase for an awd one and then i probaly would have to reflash the computer but i was really wondering what wiring woudl i have to change if any because i know the 4 x 4 have a thing next to the steering whell that lets you change gears

I was thinking to do the same thing on my '99.
As far as I can tell, it's just a matter of swapping in the AWD transfer case.

What's the difference between 4x4 and AWD
and how hard would it be to go from 2wd to AWD?

4x4 i 4 wheel drive, you have to lock the front end yourself.. AWD is all wheels driving all of the time, unless you have a switch to go from awd, 2wd, 4wd, etc. like the Infinity QX4's do.

How hard? You'd need the awd transfercase, front suspension and that should be about it.. Maybe little shit, but that is the jist.

2 wheel drive to 4wd or awd isn't worth it IMO, but anything is possible. Wouldn't u be better off with a 4x4 to go to awd, since most z71's have bigger built frames? I know my dad's heavy half ton 1992 silverado 4x4 has a HELLA stronger frame than my 1988 2wd.

yea, but knowing marc (redaddiction) that awd would lay body. So the bigger frame is just more of a pain for us if it ever got that far. But its not worth it, imo.. i'd just get a wrecked denali and swap everyone over to a 1/2 2wd frame and be done with it.
