    Oil Pressure sensor/temp sensor.

Oil Pressure Sensor. the 5.3 oil pressure sensor is located at the rear of the block behind the intake manifold. the sensor is very low on the stock block so we used an S&P 16mm adapter to install the vehicles original oil pressure sending unit. the original sending unit provides proper settings for your guages. This is what it says on an S&P write up for a 96 tahoe 5.7 liter to 2002 5.3 liter swap. Is this a must to do it this way or will it need to be done for the guage to function properly? Does anyone have different ways of doing it. they used the S&P harness i will be using my factory harness reworked by nelson performance. this and the engine temp sensor are whats bugging me about the swap. Thanks all! I appreciate the help!

I tapped the oil return fitting that bolts to the oil pan ledge just above to oil filter. Tap it 1/8npt and thread the oil pressure gauge from the old engine into the hole. Water temp can be threaded in anywhere you can fit the sender from the old engine. You could tap the water pump or use a adapter to mount it in the passenger side rear of head.

okay. i think i might give S&P a call about the adapter as i havent gotten an email back and its been about 2 weeks. As for the temp sensor i guess the popular spot seems to be the rear of the head so i guess ill end up using it. is there any tricks to tapping the heads?

Autometer also makes a 1/8 npt to 16mm x 1.5 adapter that you can use. I think it's cheaper than S&P. Equus also makes one but I used their adapters before and they were ****.
