    Converting from a 2000 6.0 to a 2003-4

Anyone out there done a replacement of a 6.0l iron head lq4 to a newer (less mileage of course) 6.0l? What is involved since the wreckers say the 2 are not interchangeable?

i'm guessing a complete external component and sensor swap (with intake) should take care of the wiring issues- then it is just a matter of the accessories?

    Thanks in advance!

the crankshaft has a longer snout for the 80e transmission. it wont bolt up with that longer crank, iirc. personally, i'd find another engine.

Coop is correct. The early 6.0s had a longer crankshaft on the transmission end and will not interchange with the truck if you have a 60e transmission. If you have an 80e its not an issue if they supply the flexplate/flywheel with the engine. They came with 60e trannies on some of the 6.0s but they were the old style transmission, not the newer 300mm units.

Thanks for the info guys- I have the 4L80E thank goodness. The reason i'm trying to go this route rather than rebuilding is to have a much lower mileage truck and still have the iron 6.0l. Needless to say I have some other plans for that motor when it comes out.
