    Wiring Question

I may have stumbled across a new 5.3L to replace the one I got screwed out of last time (long story). Anyways, if I wind up buying it, I want to modify the factory wiring harness to eliminate the factory fuse block to make the install a bit cleaner.

On that note, how many of the fuses are actually used by the PCM / engine? I know a whole bunch of them are used by other things like the horn, headlights etc. How many of the relays are used by the PCM / engine?

Keep in mind that my truck will be equipped with a standard transmission, so anything that might be been fused for the automatic can be eliminated

    Thanks!

Two fuses, one for constant 12v and one for switched 12v.

Really, only the injectors have a seperate fused power source?

Why is it that when I see aftermarket stand alone harnesses they have like 6 different fuses?

    Awesome! Thank you!

I want the ECM mounted on the fenderwell similar to stock, with a custom built fuse / relay center to power and control the engine, along with upgrading my headlights and a couple other under-hood components.

I want it as simple and clean as possible

    yeah,
4 for the injectors, 2 for the coil packs, 2 for o2 sensors - one front, one rear, 3-4 more for pcm power/trans power, and something else... heres what i did

one relay is for the fuel pump, one relay is for the switched 12v, and for the switched 12v wire i simply used the DIST. power wire from the factory fuse box plug.
