Wiring harness

Whats up guys?! I'm currently working on an 88 silverado with a 6.0/4l80e swap. I need a wiring harness and have a chance to buy one from a wrecked 2000 2500 4x4. The engine I have is from an 2001 2500 4x2, will it work? Or, since i'll be deleting many of the wires that will not be used does it really matter? Thanks In advance. Mario
