A buddy of mine had an 88 chevy single cab stepside with a 350 horse crate motor and was putting down 2.85 second 60ft times. he changed the stock tank out for a suburban fuel tank and dropped the 60ft times to 2.45seconds. Thats pretty damn good i think for a truck on street tires. He spent about 100 bucks doing the tank relocation. That is a hell of a lot cheaper than a 22 gallon fuel cell and having to mess with the fuel sending unit or Module whatever you want to call it and an external fuel pump and AN fittings. Does anyone know how much the step side bed weighs compared to the wide bed? On a bumpy road my truck bounces all over the place where the wide beds dont so it must be a pretty significant difference. The only drawback is that you cant use your stock fuel door anymore and you have to fill the truck up from inside the bed. Im sure someone can find a way to make it where you fill the truck up from the normal gas door. does anyone have any ideas? Just a thought for anyone who hasnt thought of it or didnt want to mess with a fuel cell? let me know what you think.
