    Good jack stands.

I'm looking at getting some jack stands. But after reading back on a truck on jack stands feel off.. I really don't want cheap. But I don't want to have to take out a loan to get some decent jack stands, if you get me on that. I saw these from auto-zone I know cheap but what do any of you think? AutoZone.com | Shopping | Accessories | Product Detail - Duralast 2 Ton Hydraulic Jack and Stand Kit, or should I just keep looking. $40 for two stand and a jack kind of makes me want to stay away. Or would just the jack not be very good?

And what about these. $31 for two stands, no jack Summit SUM-G1040 - Summit® Jack Stands - summitracing.com

Even a "cheap" set that is rated to the needed weight will be fine. I think the instance you're talking about where it fell off the stands was because it was on plywood on dirt.

I bought 4 - 2 1/4 ton stands from sears for 42 bucks after tax, not for the truck but for the BMW project car i am working on. It weighs a little under 3000 lbs, so i figured that would be plenty. If you go online they had some good deals for 3 ton jackstands as well.

Seems that does make sense. A 4 ton stand, whatever the price, is a 4 ton stand. Makes comfortable buying some stand now. Anyone have any issues with a truck on 4 stands? Or is that pushing it 4500 lbs?

thats only 1125 lbs on each stand more or less for a stand that can hold 8000 each. Only do it on 4 stands on pretty level ground.
