Took it to the muffler shop to hook it up , the guy did a real nice job tucking everything nice and tight, he made the crossover pipe removable with slip joints. the pics are before and after on the exhaust. Now with the muff hooked up all I here is the cooling fan whistling. Now I need to fabricate a shield for the oil pan

Nice ride man. Is it that quiet? What muffler are you running?
-
Its an old flowmaster, the guy at the muff shop was saying that those cats are of a new supertiny honeycomb for the ultra low emissions, the cats and pipe alone is 1200.00 and the four 02s are 125.00 a piece. My fan in this thing sounds like a turbo spooling up. Its sounds kinda funny.

Looks nice! I like the 4/6 drop. What height tires are you running?
-
Thanks guys,
The tires 60 275 15 they are 28" back 245 front. kinda old school now
-
Old school, maybe, but they are period correct for that style truck. :thumb: My friend still runs Weld draglite 15x8s and they look great on his truck.
-
They look good because they fill the fender wells up. My tire's aren't quite tall enough but I can't afford the next size taller that are 12" wide.

Hey Yellow91Silverado, You're truck is lowered quite a bit. What did you do to the carrier bearing and pinion alignment? Did you leave everything alone or did you have to make some adjustments? We pretty much have the same setup.
-
Belltech flip kits come with a carrier bearing spacer that require you cut the bottom of the cab to clear the driveshaft. You have to cut the cab support after installing the spacer or else you won't be able to get the carrier bearing in place.
-
Huh, I didn't see the cab cut but I did add another 1/4 " on top of the 1/4 " plate that was under the carrier bearing to give it an almost 0 to 1 degree drop., leaving 3 to 4 degree positive from the carrier to the diff. Note that I used the 05 factory tranny mount which was a bit thicker than the 700r4 mount. I bought the truck with the drop so Red may be right about Cab but I didn't see anything cut except the frame and they pulled a leaf out also. I will tell ya though the 5.3 oil pans sit a good 2" below the front suspension leaving it vulnerable
-
Add a skid plate, just in case. Anything to prevent breaking the pan. The LS1 pan sits way higher.
-
Thanks for the info guys! Looks like I still have over an inch even with the half inch spacer under the bearing. I'll see what I can come up with tomorrow. Time to rest..........
-
I'm thinking it was a 2 x 2 square tube.
-
I'll jack it up tomorrow , wayyyyyyyyyy up and check for that 2x2 being cut
-
There would be a piece of 2 x 2 square tubing between the crossmember at the carrier bearing and there will be a piece of the body brace cut out to clear the topside of the driveshaft if you have that type of relocater.
-
OK , double checked underneath today,
Found nothing cut, but I need to correct the spacers used
Under tranny mount was 1/2 " spacer and 11/4 spacer under carrier bearing leaving the drive shaft pretty much dead nuts to the carrier with a 1 to 2 degree negative to the diff.
checked the power steering pump it was pretty quiet but I did notice the fan clutch was binding more than on my 04, so thats a good enough excuse to go with electric fans
