I think I may had been screwed!?

Ok, I am still very new to this forum and hope I can get some informative input on what just happened. I posted my introduction a couple a days ago and also a couple of other things to move forward with my conversion. On last Wensday I shook hands with a company on an 05' complete dropout with transmission/accessories, the whole works for $1150 plus tax (or what I thought was a great deal). I paid for it that day and went to pick it up today and got everything minus the transmission. Also part of the deal was the under hood fuse box which was with the engine when I went to pick it up, but after backing the truck up and letting them load it and then getting home the fuse box was gone. So I am not sure now whether I got a good deal or not. The motor has almost no miles on it and is by far the most clean I have ever seen. Since its an 05', I got the DBW with TAC module, all accessories (minus the fuse box) and the front portion of exhaust with O2 senors. I have already pulled my motor/trans from my truck expecting to drop something in it's place but now I have taken a couple of steps backwards. Did I get a something worth having or should I return it or sell it to get my money back and try for something else to make this happen. Either way, I am already commited to this so it has to happen, more or less, the conversion it what I absolutely want. Any input, advice, or even opinionated critism is welcome (it actually helps sometimes as long as it is just not plain hateful). Thanks

so.... you want to swap, bought a motor, now you dont want it?

I definately want the motor, but the hand shake on the price was for the trans to go with it. I was asking if what I paid and only getting a complete motor is worth it.

Sounds like he made a deal with someone, They loaded and did not include all the parts that were originally to be included. I think complete the 1150 would of been a great deal, Do you have anything in writing what was originally to be included? That may help you....

I have paper work to go with it, but the more I read it, I can see how it can fall through the cracks. The sale reciept states, $1150 plus tax, $150 core charge, complete dropout conversion, 05' DBW, $50 factory under hood fuse panel. It does not state transmission anywhere on the reciept, but that was the hand shake on what a complete dropout package to my request was. For the year model and mileage, it seemed like a steal to me. I am new to this conversion and have read alot of different things on this, I committed by pulling my complete drive train yesterday and went to pick up and new drive train today and only getting half. I may have gotten a great deal even though it is not what I shook on, but with my lack of LS experience I am not sure if this is worth fighting or keeping what I came home with.

Why did you leave without all of your parts?I could see it if a small piece or two got left behind,but a transmission should be real easy to notice...

My main concern would be did you actually get a 5.3 from a 2005. Or maybe a 4.8? Just a lil sketchy that they wouldn't include the trans after shaking on it. I wouldn't have even taken the motor if it wasn't the deal I agreed on. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I say return it and find another setup or bit the bullet and buy a trans.

Ask them about the transmission. Cant hurt. Make sure you talk to the same person you did the first time. How they handle it will let you know weather you should deal with them ever again

It's not that I did not notice the missing trans, it about the extra 750 the shipping and receiving department wanted to charge me for the trans when I asked where it was. The front office was already closed and that it where the deal was made.

Your right, it can't hurt and after sleeping on it, I feel that I will be able to approach it better than I would have yesterday.

In Louisiana a verble contract is binding, I'd go ask about it, if they wouldn't give it to me, some1 there would have to call the police. Cause it would get bad, I think u got an ok deal, the trans would make it a great deal. I think they prob sold it and made some more money off it. I bought my 5.3 out of an 05 avlanche for 600. Was a certified motor with 50k on it came with harness and all accessorys, and the brought it to my house.

+1..... I would talk to them ( or the same guy ) calmly about where the rest of the agreed parts disappeared to,I would also ask them if you can look at the truck they pulled everything from an see if they left any "parts" behind, and while you are there snoop around for the factory air box lid or the rad. support cover for the engine size. But I would still approach them about the missing parts, or would have left everything there and picked the stuff up during normal hours another day to dispute the problem... JMO

This I do know, I am from 15 miles south of Lake Charles. As active duty I do not get to live there anymore. Your engine sounds like a great deal. I am about to talk to them again and we will see how this goes.

This is what I am going to attempt. The donor is no longer available cause once gutted and stripped, it goes straight to the crusher. Hopefully we can calmly work this out.

Believe I may have figured it out, will find out tomorrow whether I can order the factory replacements or I will just machine out some new ones. I sent you back a PM with more information. Also I may be able to reuse the factory V6 mounts by cutting them off the plate, cutting the excess plate off and then tig weld the clam shells back onto the plates as close the the factory location as possible as the V8 mounts would have been. The clam shells are pretty beat up after almost 20 years so new would definately be better in my case.
