what ratio are you currently? rons is the best!
3.73 stock, i figured 4.10 or 4.11 wouldn't be enough of a difference. my wheels and tires are really heavy and i really need a little more rpm on the highway to cruise 70-75 without a lot of down shifting. also in theory should be a little easier life(whats left of it lol!) on trans. and of course this decision had nothing to do with wanting to be able to roast the tires
:burnrub:
gears came in today, thanks ron. ordering tune tomarrow.
who is setting them up for u and when?
gonna make a nice difference..goodluck
a friend of mine who is a mechanic, who is great at setting up differentials. hopefully within the next two weeks.
gears went in tonight waiting on tune still, hopefully be here soon. so far feel great!
tune is already on the way.
just a side note, be careful at high speeds in 3rd and 4th, those gears will make that shaft spin very fast.
Sounds good hope u enjoy those gears. Plan on the same ratio was thinking of going with 4.10s but like u said not much difference from 3.73s
you never know with driveshafts. i've seen stock ones break at 100mph with 3.42's and some live up to 140mph with 4.10's.
GM's driveshafts aren't meant to spin as fast as we make'm, hence speed limiter. Yes there are many out there going past the shafts critical speed, but you never know until you try it.
ya true... maybe ill have to look into a aftermarket one if it does?
i've used a lot of different companies and i haven't had one failure with http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/
they made the one for my track truck and after they made zach's 5" (4.56gears w/ 6speed auto) with no vibe and no failure, that's proof enough for me.
Thanks for the warning, hopefully I won't reach the limit of driveshaft.
With the 3.73's I was turning about 2100rpm's
Also my drivers side wheel speed sensor is leaking, could I just pull it out and use sealant? any other ideas besides replacing?
According to gps I'm turning about 2400 at 70mph. my tach goes up in 500rpm increments. my tire diameter is 32''
got the pcm yesterday swapped it this morning, took about 10mins to swap, fired right up! thanks Allen.
its not a night and day difference, its an improvement. My truck came w/3.73's, im sure the guys that are swapping from 3.42's feel more of a gain. From a dead stop, It takes off better when you put it to the wood, driving around town feels the same, 70mph is 2,400 from 2,100. however, it will occasionally chirp second- but i also am ridin' dirty on the black ''16 spare. I make it beg for mercy all the time. Main thing is this truck doesn't make good power till 3,000rpm's a converter would complement these gears nicely. Maybe do a vid this afternoon
Hit up Circle D!!
Ya stall always helps
its an 03- i'm not sure if its 4l60 or 4l65? anybody know how to tell diff? glove box code or on tranny? I just have one tire fire, no g-bomb here, and barely enough power to fry one tire let alone two.
That answers my question. Thank you Allen.
