we put the new fuel pump in last night.. fuel pressure reads 80 psi
thinkin thats too high lol
so.......
anyone know 1) how much pressure the fuel system can handle?
2) a link or part number to the aeromotive regulator for return style?

80 is alot.... it can "handle it" but changes alot in the tune..... and hard on the pump.. and you have no reason to run that so yes get that under control
meep
Lot of guys are running vette filters.... why is he having a problem? Anyone think the filter may just be bad? It's a brand new wix...
Vette filter is setup for stock pumps. Increasing pimp size changes fuel pressure.
im running a vette filter with a walbro 255 and it stays at 60psi
plumbed incorrectly? 3/8" side should be from the pump and 5/16" is return to the tank.
I have 3/8 on the top line...and 5/16 on the bottom. Which went to the 3/8 and 5/16 on the original rail. I read somewhere that the vette filter uses the larger size for return, but was told different last week when we put it on. I guess it wouldn't hurt to flip the filter around and see what happens...if not we can try a different filter.
the setup can only regulate so much flow/pressure going beyond what it was manufactored for will have side effects. its a 20 dollar item its not the answer to everyones build
It was 70 psi before the Walbro was put in... Stock pump.
They are like 110 bucks  even on a stock pump, he was pushing 70psi.... a regulator is supposed to regulate, not just cut down a %. If I put a walbro behind my factory return style regulator...I'm almost positive my pressure wouldn't jump up 8psi.
The fact that SOME people are running the SAME setup, has to mean something is hooked up wrong/ wrong with this filter. So instead of telling him to spend more money, I'd personally like to figure out why, if for no other reason, someone else can learn from it in the future.
I put the Corvette filter on 3 vehicles and they all were right at 60 psi with a walbro 255lph pump. Not sure what your issue could be unless maybe you have the filter installed wrong or you have restriction in the return line.
Vette regulators are 40 bucks tops. Other aftermarket adjustables are higher. Either way. There's an issue somewhere to be hitting 80 psi. My walbro in my 08 was hitting 70s when voltage was increased. His shouldn't do that. Something is wrong.
I am assuming you have the feed from the tank going into the 3/8 fitting and the return flow going to the tank in the 5/16" fitting and these two are both on the same side of the filter?
yes... the 2 male fittings are going into stock lines.... the male fitting of the rail is going into the female fitting of the filter. The rail is 3/8. The filter had a 3/8 female on one side, 3/8 male on other, and 5/16 male on same side. I put the 3/8 on the top line (which had the 3/8 from factory). I'm going to flip it around tomorrow and see what happens, should only take 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, we'll try another filter.
Dealer wanted 140 for filter, Autozone wanted 110, advance was 80, oreillys was 50.
Rock Auto sells them for 30$
good to know. it was kind of a last minute thing. This one has a 1 yr warranty...may come in handy.
or ditch the idea and just get a crossover made for the stock system. its better system to work with anyways
winners circle is an aeromotive dealer.. road trip lol
tried a new wixx vette filter and its still at 78 psi.. we thought the return line was being crimped a bit so we got a new line and moved things forward a bit.. still 78 psi.
gonna start shopping for an aeromotive adjustable.
What kind of gauge are You using?
Fyi it be cheaper and easier to do it right and just make a crossover for the fuelrail
its a glowshift fuel guage.
quick.. ill send u my rails and have you fab it up lol
I would definitely put that fuel gage on another vehicle and see if it's reading correctly, or get another gage of another brand and see what the reading is.
can do.. we still got my original guage around some place.. it was fine and normal before we did the tbss intake swap.
im thinking the filter\fpr is the issue.. so im also thinking the cure is 1) get the crossover made and use stock fuel rails or 2) get an aeromototive fpr thats adjustable
youll have more work and money into getting a regulator then it owuld to make a crossover for the return setup. Not to mention its a better system and the tune will need reworked for the other way you currently have it
ok so i got my stock rails.. who wants to cut em up and weld em with the right an fittiings on them??
anyone who can tig can do that easily for you, a local friend did it to his 03 rails for his gmt900 intake
Subscribed to find out what Quik means when he says make a crossover for the stock rails.
I've used the flex fuel s10 filter and the 5/16 is always the feed and the 3/8 is the return. Never used the vette cause the s10 has the male fittings on it already.
DBRODS, off what year vehicle? lookin on az's website.
Whatever the last year they made the S10 (2003?) will be the one you need. I imagine the 4 banger truck too, don't think there's ever been a Flex 4.3.
2003 Flexfuel S10.
what is that one rated at?
i found ONE instock a purolator at advance auto
