need lots of help-5.3L for LQ9 swap

I joined this site just so i could do this swap on my own so i'm after all the help I can get.
ok check it out, got a 2001 Silverado 1500 Z71 ext short box with a 5.3L with 184,000 miles on it. been the best damn truck I've ever had. never any problems, buts its looked after very well. I want to swap out the 5.3L and swap in a LQ9. I got the how to build LS engines book(sweet) but here's the deal, i can get an LQ9 engine and 4L65E trans and computer and wiring harness for a pretty good deal. however its all drive by wire? what all do i need to do to make this swap work? I'm also going to throw on some shorty headers. but what about cam? lifters? larger throttle body? yes no maybe? I'm looking to make it worth my time and effort to maybe get a few more ponies of this engine. However i' not going blower of turbo. I want for a nice combo of performance parts cause i drive the truck everyday year round. any advice on all of this would be greatly appreciated.

The original TAC (throttle actuator control) module is needed along with the original (or tuned) PCM and wiring harness.

Assuming your current truck has a cable-driven TB. I don't see an issue with re-using that setup. Not sure of any noticeable difference b/t your current intake manifold versus that of the LQ9 (if any). This is pretty much a swap-out drivetrain (assuming the 65E is a 4WD trans). You just need to spend time swapping things over like TB, accessories, etc. You will need to talk to a tuner to get you a PCM (tuned) to be able to take advantage of the extra cubes. Nelson Performance can certainly help you with that at a reasonable price. I think you'll need to provide year/model info on where your new powertrain came from.

the LQ9 i could get is out of a 2005 caddy ext.

Just use a cable driven TB.

i would advise against shortys and just do some pacesetter long tubes IMO

I like the TAC system...cleaner look and integrated cruise but there is much more electrical to it.

Before you put the LQ9 in, buy a cam, valve springs, pushrods, maybe change the timing chain, oil pump, water pump, check the compression before you throw it in. Put the cam in before because its easier. Youll get allot of ''ponies'' with a cam, pcm tune, intake, and LT headers. So what is the diff between a 2000 Sub 5.3 and a 6.0 regarding a swap, besides the obvious?

NOTHING!! i swapped a lq9 6.0 out of a 04 escalade. without any issues, just swapped tb to stick with cable

Sounds like a plan, (5.3 to lq9) I'll need a trans. upgrade though, Eaton posi, yukon axles, etc, etc, etc,....

ok so i missed out on the lq9 but i picked up an 03 5.3L. could i put a Lq9 cam in it and just send my computer to texas speed for a tune? i think i'm going with shorty headers, jet mass air flow sensor, and an 85mm throttle body. thoughts??

well i was reading on the 85mm throttle body and came to a conclusion that its not a big difference.
only so much air will fit in the cylinder chambers. plus i just kept my cable TB.

who else has tunes for a mild cam kit?
