New to forum TURBO 6.0 build

Im going to be doing a 6.0 turbo swap into my car. I have a few pictures of the build so far and I hope to have it done in the next month or so if everything goes well. Any advice along the way always helps because I'm new to all this GM stuff ;-)

I blew a ring land in the stock 5.0 and instead of putting another weak 5.0 back in the car.. you guessed it 6.0. Hopefully I dont run into to many purists :) Here are some pictures of the progress so far.

mmmmm....I love mustang fox bodies with big turbo 6.0's in them. that color looks awesome, cant wait to see the finished product!

Man that is a lot of work so far but it will be worth it. Looks like it was worth it with the 5.0, but the 6.0 will be that much better.

My buddy wants to build one of those with a 406. I am working on converting him to gen 3 or 4.

right the hell on, looks wise the fox body aint my favorite, but they sure are a great go-fast platform! turbo 6.0 should be wicked in that.

Hells yeah! Dude--were you at Denton on Sunday? I saw a Fox body JUST like yours there.

Yeah, I really like Fox Body cars--especially those LX coupes. And if I had one, I would do an LQ9/T-56 just like you...HAHAHA, you are living my dream. :(

Projoect looks good! :thumb: What other bolt-ons you doing to compliment the turbo? I am guessing it is a T-70? Any head work? Cam? etc?

Thanks for the compliments guys! As far as supporting mods pretty much just a ls6 cam and ls6 valve springs and hardened push rods.. Im not real concerned on the power it makes I just want a car that runs and drives stock and moves out when I want it to. Also the gas mileage will be nice! You guys have any idea what she might put down! Prob run about 10 lbs through the 70mm with 60lb injectors.

about 2/3 more HP than the base engine puts out.

What would a 6.0 with a ls6 cam and a tune put out to the wheels?

I dont think gear ratio and tire size adds HP ;-P But it will be a t56.

Gear ratio affects readings on the rear wheel dyno. A 3.42 gear will show more HP on the ground than a 4.56 gear will. I would guess you're looking at about 530 HP to the ground with a proper tune and 10 PSI. On motor you're probably going to see 320 if setup and tuned minus the turbo.

Sweet that sounds awsome. I made 550 whp with about 15 lbs in the 302. If I make around 530 to 550 I'd be happy with that.. I had a pretty quick spool with the 5.0 .. full boost right around 2900. I cant wait to see what the 6.0 does!

Hey do you have an idea about how much power guys are putting down with these stock bottom ends "safely". I dont want to push it to much, I would like it to be "reliable" unlike the 5.0 was.

550 hp is safe in these motors.theyres people pushing 600 + all day but id say thats pushing the envelope.i know a local that pushed a 6.0 to 750 just to see what it would hold.

I love this freaking car! All the poor f-body guys though. You are going to make them depressed if they dont know you got a gm motor. How does it run?

Notch is the only Mustang I would drive, love that body style.

sweet dude. what manifold did you use for the turbo? and whats the full specs on that turbo? did you get it tuned yet or were you just driving it on a stock computer

I modified the turbo kit I had to work w/ this set up. Its a mpt70 turbo. I have a base tune form straightline performance I am going for a full tune like next month hopefully or sooner.

What kinda numbers are people seeing w/ the mpt70? Is 300whp possible?

thats got 10's written all over it! 9's if your good at shifting and push the turbo to the edge.
