Well that's a guy's tool anyway.

Great thread!!! I'm planning on stepping up to an LS6 intake on an L33 5.3 dumped into a 96 S10 SS. :)
wasn't there still an issue for clearance using the dbw tb on the 07 style pumps? it seems like that only worked with cable tb.
I did this swap and i will post the PN for the main belt in the morning, I used a o'rileys belt and it was a 9xx120, just too lazy to go look in the garage.
My setup is a f-body waterpump, summit brand UD pulley with stock sized alt pulley, Katech f-body idle tensioner and thats it...i will also get pics of the setup tmrw...to be honest i need to prob go one size down for a more snug fit
its been THREE days now... :toetap:
Yea V, I'd really like to see your setup and know the belt length when you get a chance, and would you happen to know where to get a fuel rail for this swap? I can't find a 97-98 vette rail like Lance used
the 97/98 vette fuel rail is very hard to come by. if you do find one it will be expensive. i've seen some use an adapter of some sort and use the vette filter/regulator to make it work.
I just went over to a aftermarket rail...looks better that way anyways. I will say with cost of intake, the DBW 78-90mm conversion harness, new WP, brackets from Greg (redheartbeat), Katech tensioner pulley, and 90mm TB i have about $1,000 into the swap...but i also went to a LS2 intake instead of a LS6
I'll get pics and the belt number later on today and post them tomorrow
So what brand fuel rail did you go with V? any reccomendations on which ones are better?
I just went with a aeromotive rail...but really on that a rail is a rail, they are all basically a big chunk of aluminum with a hole drilled in it lol, then the only thing you have to do is convert the stock fuel line over to a -an fitting which is about $20. I got a little drunk last night so didnt get the pics lmao....tonight i promise
I used a set of cheap Edelbrock rails on my LS2. Had to drill a couple new mounting holes through the rails and make mounting brackets out of a piece of aluminum angle. Worked out well.
How did you mount the idler pulley on the alternator side?
looking good under the hood!
looks like he used a longer bolt and a spacer for the idler red.
So this will probably sound dumb, but with the aftermarket fuel rails you have to run an aftermarket pressure regulator as wel I'm assuming?
if you already have a returnless system then all you do is get fuel to the rails, no regulator needed. :thumb: Makes for a very inexpensive setup, actually cheaper than a stock fuel rail for my LS2.
Yea but mine is a return system Greg, so I've got to find a way to do it
so, run the fuel straight to the rail, on the opposite side fuel rail add an Aeromotive FPR and then vent the excess fuel back to the tank. Easy peezy lemon squeezy.

Hey hey! I like those, pretty nice pieces, and looks like that'll do the trick Greg, man this site is great!
We try. :thumb:
hey i just got put a bbk ssi on my 5.3 with bigger injectors i cant get it to idle
do i need to get it tuned it also has a cam and it has been tuned for it what do yall think
I'd like to know about the BBK SSI too...I'm wanting to use it too
You should probably have it tuned, with bigger injectors and that in take flowing more the idle characteristics have changed form what they were, so i'd say get her to the tuner!
Does the stock size belt work with this after you relocate the idler pulley?
02' 4.8/5.3 with ls1 intake and stock water pump using truck TB. I dented the water neck, cut off the cruise control cable nipple off the TB, will trim the cable guide a little too. Only mocked up now but looks as if it will work. Saves having to change the water pump.
