would you recomend buying headers or using stock truck maifolds? are the headers more trouble than their worth? :help:
The stock exhaust manifolds are every bit as good as the sanderson cast headers. Now, if you can get long tube headers I would definitely go that route.
Greg, I talked to Stans Custom Headers and they said if we came up with a jig long tube header setup they'd make them for us. We'd be looking at $1890.00 for the first set and 400.00 to 450.00 after that. I'm thinking about ordering a header kit and building the jig myself and then send it to them.
That's frigging rediculous for a price for the first one. That's damn crazy. If you do the design and they charge that much for the first one, what do they have invested in it? A good company would take a complete set and digitise the tubes and replicate it easily.
I agree, it is expensive! Mark at Deer Park Muffler used build custom sets for $500.00

I was looking over on jagsthatrun.com and saw ls1 swap headers. It didn't say who's they were. https://shell7.tdl.com/~jags/S-10_Order.html

I used S & P G-body headers on the truck I did. They fit good, & with 3" back to 2 flowmasters with only turndowns off of the mufflers, it sounds pretty good. Stock '99 LS1 325 horse motor & it sounds better than my own 461 cube big block in my truck. Too bad my 461 is a second faster in the 1/4.
I Tried adding pics of the headers, but I guess since I just joined, they won't upload? If anyone needs pics, lemme know.

I just read where vettetruck installed these headers with no problems either. I've read about other people having problems so I know I'm not the only one. I wonder if we're doing something different (i.e motor hieght) or is S&P manufacturing them inconsistently? hmmm
so not even the stock manifolds from either the vettes/comaros or the trucks work?

I have use the truck and camaro manifolds without issue. Farmtruc has the truck manifolds, too, no problem from what I saw.
