Thanks! Well I went from a 350/350 combo to the Ls1/4l60e. I dont know how much of a diff there is between the 350 and 4l60e as far as dimensions, but I used the original drive shaft. I wound up with about 1/2" more exposed on the drive shaft after the tail on the tranny. As far as the linkage I dont remember having to do anything to it.

Advance Adapters has a set that specifically say that they place the LSx engine in the same position as the factory SBC.

These look almost identical to the ones I made for my swap in my 92 k1500. It was so close to the same location that if the exhaust would have had the right collectors it would have bolted right up.

there is a short and long shaft 350 trans. sounds like yours is the long.

hey guys quick update. im working with dirty dingo on some motor mounts for our trucks to make a ls motor bolt up to a glide,350,400,700r4 in the factory trans placement for 73-87 trucks. He told me once we get them working he will start mass producing them.

Im doing the swap right now actually and last night I went to go and mount my tranny and my worst nightmare came true, my motor was about 1.5" to far forward.

When I was looking at what designs of plates were best I could not find ANYWHERE that said "this one is stock location" . I finally stumbled across an obs swap and he used the S&P design plate so I figured well he did , so can I .

My truck has an nv3500 5 spd in it ... you can understand why I REALLY did not want to move my transmission .. my shifter would move.

So my suggestion is use the S&P design plate a picture of it is here ( LS1 Swap FAQs - LS1TECH ) and move the engine 1.5" backward of this.

You also have to make sure that you put the plates on the correct side of the motor or it will move it too far forward, learned this the hard way.

The ones we talked about will be side specific and will adjustable from 2" rearward to 1" forward.
