You definitely need a tune! What kind of truck are you running? I see 2005 with an LS1 but I doubt you truly have the 5.7L LS1 in it. Do you have the 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0L engine? Are you 2WD or 4WD? What size tires are you currently running? Do you have a G80 limited slip or an open differential in the rear? If you want to be able to launch the truck you're going to need the tune and possibly a 3200+ rpm stall convertor to get that thing to come alive out of the hole.

I have a 2005 Avalanche 2wd, limited slip rearend I also have a 160 thermostat a Jesse Bubb tune, homemade cold air intake and throttle body bypass. The tires are 285/70/17 BFGs. Because of the weight of the Avalanche I really don't have a spin issue and the big tires don't help that either but it looks so much better than the factory size tires. It weighs in at 5950 with me in it.

Help me out guys RedHeartbeat says he dropped a tenth going from 3.08 to 4.10 any more times from other trucks? Thanks
-
damn, that's a big tire! 32.7" tall. I would definitely go for the 4.10s or even some 4.56s. I'd do the 4.56s if you plan on going to a bit larger tire in the future. Weight is your enemy in your truck, the AV needs to go on a diet. If you don't put some kind of forced induction on it, do at least a late model LS6 cam and springs with a good torque convertor. As heavy as the truck is I cannot believe you can't spin the tires, unless it's all in the rear.
Which size engine?

Sorry so long in getting back to ya (football day) it has the 5.3 in it. I belive my times are not too bad considering the weight but I am sick of the titans handing it to me. I can't resist a race win or lose I would just like to win a few more! One more question did your times drop by a tenth or second going from 3.08 to 4.10?
-
Instantly reduced my 1/8 mile time by .1 second when I added the 4.10s. 2800 stall reduced it another .1. My best was 9.23 with my 92 C1500 Xcab with a tuned stock 98 LS1. I actually started out running 10.2s with 32x10.5x15s. I lowered the truck 4/6, added 4.10s, played some with the tune, got some almost slick tires to race with. Lots of practice got my times faster and faster. A good cold air intake that has a ram air effect helps, too.

Sounds like I'll give it a shot and I will let you know how much my times reduce. It might be a couple weeks though, the shop doing it is that far backed up. Thanks for all the input!!

I would do the 4:10's for sure...... get that big beast out the hole a lot better.
