God looking truck!
I think it'll always be one if the best looking generations.
Nice build!!...i was wondering what brackets are you going to use for the front accessories??
Mines only lowered 2/4 and I don't see a problem with the truck oil pan....Most everyone else that is lowered 4 or more in the front are running the car oil pan. They are pricey from what I've seen though....Good luck.
Probably just gonna stick with the truck accessories..kinda undecided about A/C
Been a while since I posted an update. Still haven't got the motor to the machine shop just too busy at work right now. Trying to decide on my exhaust setup. I will have cut outs on it but haven't decided on mufflers. Ideas?
As far a mufflers, I personally don't like them loud like a flowmaster. I took my 94 obs with a stock 5.3 to the muffler shop a couple weeks back and since I do not have cats he suggested either magnaflow or dynamax turbo 2. I went with the turbo 2 cause its not that loud and i wanted my truck to sound like the new caddy escalade. Its not too quiet but has the grunt of a V8. The magnaflow was my 2nd option. A better straight thru design with sound but not annoying like a flowmaster. I was told at highway speed the sound is barely noticable.
If you want loud, go Spintech. Quiet idle and throaty at WFO, big body Magnaflow
Been a while since I posted but I've been super busy at work. Anyways I got my motor machined at Wildcat Performance Engines in Adel, GA and they did a great job. Got my block bored .030, cam bearings put in, block decked, crank polished, and rotating assembly balanced.

Also file fitted my rings and checked my rod and main bearing clearances and they looked great.

I also got my stock 317 heads milled .020" locally.

Assembled my shortblock last week. Used some Lucas Oil assembly lube, the bearings I'm using are clevite p-series. After cleaning and drying the block I started assembling. I used a Proform tapered ring compressor and it worked pretty good.
Laying the crank in.
