How far off is it?

far enough off that you'll think the engine is fine when you're really seriously overheated.

I thought using the 98 sending unit was the preferred method. I guess I will have to use my trucks original sending unit.

Did you just drill and tap it? Or did you use a heli-coil?

took the pump off and then drilled and tapped.

What size tap?

3/8 Npt

I just took the plug out of the passenger side head and put in another sensor and ran one to the OBS harness and the other to give signal to the OBDII computer. If you wanted, use OBS sensor with adapter in passenger side head. Saves R&R and machining the water pump.

as of right now im using the spedo on my radar and have a aftermarket water temp gauge in the truck but i would like for the stock gauges to work as i do like them very much

What trans are you using? 88-90? trucks have "DRAC" built into speedo cluster. Therefore the cluster is looking for 2000ppm from VSS. Hope this helps.
