SS3 (LS2) Trailblazer into OBS conversion?

As I (mis)understand it, the Trailblazer SS3 is a true blue LS2 motor (though it's rated at 395hp). Is this correct? As in... after I swapped this in, I'd be able to do the Corvette/GTO mods on this thing? Also, from just looking under the hood of a Trailblazer, it seems like the accessories are tucked in quite a bit more than they are on the Corvette/GTO LS2. Does this mean I might not need to mod the frame in the OBS to accommodate this motor? Anyone done an LS2 swap with this truck version of the motor? Tips? Suggestion? Blank stares? (I've already read the conversion threads end to end).

It should be the same as an LS1 swap, except for the wiring.

The accessories are the only thing you may have problems with. The rest is a bolt in item. LS2s are no different than the LS1 other than knock sensors being external and the cam sensor on the front cover. The intake is larger internally and a larger throttle body. You'll need the electronic throttle pedal to go with it unless you convert over to a cable pull TB. That will be a nice setup in my opinion. :thumb:

I've completed an LS2 swap, but with an '05 LS2 from an SSR. Same motor thats in the Trailblazer.

I recommend getting a '01-'02 PCM/Wiring and not using the pcm/wiring that will come with the TBSS. Also, if its using the new PCM, you will need to swap the reluctor wheel on the crank if you do not use the new PCM as the crank signals are different between the two. Then you will need to relocate the knock sensors and get a cam sensor extension harness.

Other than that, its just like any other LSx swap.

:imwstupid: The crankshaft on the LS2 has the 58-tooth reluctor wheel (it&#39;s a Gen-4 motor, needs a Gen-4 PCM); all prior Gen-3 motors have 24-tooth reluctor wheel, you will need to review your engine management -or- pull the crank and have the reluctor wheel changed. Changing the reluctor wheel is not *that* big a deal IMO, assuming you have the engine on a stand you will (of course) have to lift out the crank and take it to a machine shop but a new reluctor wheel only costs &#036;20-25 plus labor to have it changed out; the rod & main bearings can be reused and that would also be a good time to put ARP rod bolts in the bottom end. The TBSS LS2 is the same animal as the SSR/Vette/GTO LS2, it&#39;s my impression that it is rated a tad less due to differences in exhaust between vehicles.
