i am converting an 89 c1500 v6 shortbed, shortcab into a ls1 t56.
has anyone done this conversion and ran into the ac compressor problem, did you correct or move the compressor? i am thinking about shaving the motor mount bracket and ac bracket.
i have the motor mount SB adaptor brackets but i am working with the v6 truck, do i need to find the stock frame brackets or will mine work?
does anyone have long tube headers or any headers for that conversion that fit properly?
You have to section out part of the frame for the stock a/c to be used. you can buy an a/c relocation kit from www.hotrodlane.cc and use a Sanden compressor mounted up high on the passenger side head. Long tubes would be 100% custom. I posted a pole earlier about who would buy them if someone made them for us. I modified a set of BBC headers, took about 27 hours of work to get them to fit. www.hotrodlane.cc makes a set of midlength header that will work. Nitrous can tell you which ones to order.

89C1500...In response to your pm regarding motor mounts, I retained my original rubber & steel Vortec 4.3 V-6 frame mounts, as they could not be easily removed anyways, on my '96, due to very difficult access to their fastening bolts tucked in deep into the cross-member. It seemed as though they were never intended to be removed, without torching or cutting an access hole to get at the bolt heads(?). Then I simply fabricated a flat steel plate that bolted up to the LS1 blocks mounting hole bolt pattern. Then welded on two "ears" with holes in them, sticking down, for the one long motor mount bolt to pass through both the ears & the frame mount. I think the steel plate material was no thicker than 1/4" thick. These two ears(on each mount), were short, only 1 3/8" long overall. No, I don't have a pattern or drawing, sorry. This simple mount design worked excellent. Any other questions, just fire away, as I know how difficult it is, getting detailed information on these installs. Gar
