Well, first of all let me introduce myself. I'm from Texas and own an '84 Chevy with a carbed 350.
Now for the question, there is an Lt1 for sale locally from a 93 formula. Now I have seen performance magazines and it seems 95% of the aftermarket is for the 94-97 LT1. What is the difference? I know something about the type of intake is different. Is there a way to modify this lt1 to buy the performance parts of the 94-97 lt1's or are they different engines?
I believe the difference is OBD1 vs OBD2, plus different styles of optispark units. I had a 93 Corvette LT1 in my 1992 truck for 100K miles and now it's running in my buddy's truck working on another 100K. They are great engines. Street and Performance at hotrodlane.cc can get you anything you need for the conversion. It is a straight bolt-in application with no motor mount or transmission matching problems. I still prefer the Gen3 engines but I'd still do another LT1 with confidence. The 93 Vette had VATS(vehicle anti-theft system) that had to be programmed out of the chip. S&P handled that plus did a hotrod tune on the chip.
An additional bonus is that you get to use factory small block V8 headers with the LT1.

Yeah they discontinued it becuase GM stoped producing the lt4 intake manifolds
heres what the kit consisted of :LT4 conversion kit
GMPARTSDIRECT sells a kit, too, and I believe its a lot cheaper, even after shipping and handling charges. Summit and Jegs don't charge shipping unless you want it overnight or second day.

If you are just looking for gains in performance and don't have to have a "LT4". You can get equivelant (and greater) HP gains with the standard hot rodding upgrades of cam, porting and compression increases.
Allright. Thanks for the info guys. Kwkenuf that was really helpfull, thanks bro. I'll probably do a 355 just to clean up the cylinders a bit, and get some beefier internals so I can spray it, and of course a cam. Now I just need the money. Jeje. College budgets suck.
BTW sweet truck Kwkenuf, always been a fan of that bodystyle.
