Here's a good starting point: www.hotrodlane.cc
You'll want to check out their Projects section. To make it easier for you, here's the link: LS1 into '77 Chevy Truck. They've summarized their steps, but that should give you an idea of what was done. Two people here have done LS1 swaps in C10s... 86LS1Silverado & GMCWantsLS1 (not sure if names are right). Thumb thru the posts, and feel free to ask questions. Folks here are definitely helpful.
If you can get a descent price on the LS1 (or 5.3/6.0), I'd go for it. If this is a daily driver, and you can't afford to have down, I'd look to getting EVERYTHING you need to run the motor FIRST. Some of us (at least for me) have had to work in phases. I'm now able to drive my truck on its own power, but have a great deal of tuning to be a daily driver. Just have patience, and the outcome will be worth it.
Engine: LS1 w/ 4L60E (trans will work, but make plans to build up in the future)
Suspension: I would say that this is your personal preference. I like my truck's stance.
Brakes: Without a doubt, upgrade when the finances allow.
Diff: I'm using the stock 8.5" 10 bolt with a '76 Camaro POSI & 4.10s
Heater: Why change if it works
A/C: Depends on motor & placement of motor
Cooling: You're on the right track
Fuel Tanks: I'm still using my stock saddle tanks
Gauges: Prepare to buy aftermarket. Whatever fits your budget & taste.

i will look into that, thanks
im thinking of telling a custom shop here in vegas to do all that work instead of me doing it.
most likely i well go with these guys. Custom Shop they seem to do everything that i want to do to the truck.
or should i do it myself?
