Putting a 5.3 in a OBS?

Ive got a 96 Yukon with an L31 and have been considering an LS1 swap when it occured to me that a bunch of you guys are pulling out perfectly good 5.3's for these LS1 swaps. Would i be able to swap a 5.3 into my yukon as easilly as an LS1 or should i just do an LS1 anyway as I probably couldnt find a good enough deal on a 5.3 to justify it over an LS1.

I think that what he was trying to get out is what would it take to swap a gen III motor into an OBS.

I"m interested in doing an Ls1 swap on a 98 and is couriouse as to what needs to be done as far as making all the gauges and the wiring work
can anybody help us out or point us in the right directiong

Waiting on my 5.3 w/ 4L60E to be delivered. Pulled my old carb'd 4.3 from my OBS truck ('86 Silverado C10), and am dying to get this project complete. At the moment, I'm considering how I'll be attacking fuel delivery.

Check out www.hotrodlane.cc. They have a writeup on a '77 LS1 swap in their S&P Projects section that's interesting. Some of which can be considered for a LM7 swap. What I'm seeing is that the following things I have to consider:

* Fuel delivery: Elec pumps (2 for saddle tanks), valve switch assembly, and in-cab switch
* A/C mods: hoses and connections to compressor
* Power Steering: slight line mods from steering box to pump assembly
* Radiator: look for NBS radiators, plus transcooler
* Gauge cluster: Decided to bite bullet & go with Dakota Digital cluster
* Driveshaft
* Rear gears: upgrading from open-end w/ 2.73s
