Possible 93 rcswb LS swap
My 13 year old son and I picked up a tired 93 GMC rcswb truck with a very tired 4.3 v6 and 4l60e in it. We are going to be building this for his first vehicle and want to be as resourceful as possible (not cheap). Since this will be his daily driver, and probably mine until he gets his license, we are wanting reliability and fuel economy which is why we are looking in to the ls swap. It will either be a 4.8 or 5.3 as i can get those locally with all accessories, harness and ecm for $450-700. I know i'll have to update the fuel system, remove the v6 pedestals for motor mounts and install new mounts, and deal with the harness which i will most likely farm out. My main question is in reference to the oil pan and LS accessories. Will the stock oil pan work without alterations and can you keep the LS accessories in their stock locations, including a/c compressor, without clearance issues. We are weighing our options and since he will be reimbursing me for half of what we end up in the truck, we are trying to keep costs to a minimum while still doing the job correctly. Our other option is to drop a carbed sbc in there after rebuilding the trans and just let it be.
