looking for help replacing a SBC with 6.0 in a 91 Z71

I built a late 80's 350 with aluminum heads, intake, long tubes, and holley 750 - makes decent power I'd say around 400hp but I really wanted more. I just picked up a 6.0 LQ4 with race ported LS3 heads and victor Jr intake, custom hyd roller cam, ARP rod bolts. should be around 650hp I want to mate it to my 700R4 and 4wd

I've read myself in circles about this swap!

what am I going to need as far as brackets etc for my alt, pump, steering, etc??

motor mounts?

headers look to be the hardest to find for 4wd application, looks like pacesetters and have to dent the frame in some so they don't hit

any issues hooking up to 700R4?

MSD 6010 controller?

bump - I know I'm not the first to do this and I don't want to waste money or time getting the wrong parts for the job or if there is a better way than the 4-5 year old threads I keep reading and taking notes off of

There is literally tons of info on this swap here.
Dirty dingo mounts and use the stock ls truck accessory brackets. If your planning on keeping a/c then you'll need a different bracket for that.
I think the pacesetter headers are probably the best choice for a 4x4

Yeah I'm picking up some pacesetters but only because I'm tired of looking lol :whack: advance adapters has the parts to get your 700r4 hooked up. But if it's a stock trans, you might want to look into upgrading it. And I think you'll have quite a difficult time getting to 650hp naturally aspirated with just bolt ons.

thanks - I'm going to go with pacesetters as well for the same reason. I'll check out the advance adapters, my trans has been built before I put the current motor in, its very strong! motor came out of an 80's camaro running high 10's so its got some ass, it was estimated at 650hp even if its not I'm sure it will really wake the truck up compared to the 350 in it now

I think I'll go by the junkyard and see if I can rob the front end components and brackets to get me going since mine won't swap over

Well, if your motor already came with EFI I wouldn't change it over. It's just extra money you need to spend and you don't get as many tuning options. Plus it's good to have more precise read outs of what your engine is doing when looking at all your sensor outputs. Remember, carburetor are old technology which makes them easy to deal with. An a/m carb and manifold could cost you north of $1K and thats money you could be putting towards your swap. If you want to put more effort into your ride, stick with today's technology. And fyi my Dirty Dingo mounts just arrived last Friday and seem pretty stout and I like how they are adjustable.

the previous owner swapped it over to a victor JR intake for a carburetor so that's why I'm asking - I'd prefer EFI but not sure what is the best way to go about it, I'd like to keep the intake since its been race ported to match the heads and have been doing some reading on EFI throttle bodys that would mount on my intake but the seem very pricy!

I'm going to order my dirty dingo mounts today, I was thinking the adjustability would help with getting everything lined up with transmission too
